* I made it at the domain 8CHAN.CO in 2013.
* Jim Watkins took over the server hosting in Sept 2014.
* The registrar of the .CO domain, internet.bs, had been sold since I bought the domain, they took the domain to virtue signal. (January 2015)
* Temporarily the domain 8CH.NET, owned by Jim Watkins was used.
* A lawyer in the Bahamas helped me get back the domain pro bono.

I think it is the best distributed imageboard, but if users want to recreate 8chan using it that will put a lot of strain on its developers and on its clearnet nodes. It works as a federation, so the best way would be use the NNTPchan software and create a new parallel network with only darknet peers.

Well, Lynxchan as far as I know is just a software. If you are setting up a site like 8chan, definitely use it instead of any of the software in the Tinyboard/vichan/infinity/OpenIB family tree. All that software requires an old version of Twig and lots of stuff only works on PHP5.

I'm very lucky to have an open source grant so I can use Arch Linux on my work computer, actually one of the other core developers of the project I work on (@FontForge on Twitter) uses Arch as well so it's very good. Operating systems are just tools though, in my life I've used all three major ones at one point or another.

I used /g/, the 4chan version of this board a lot as a teenager so I know OS battles are a big part of it.
