For chosing the materials, remember english has five levels
A is basic. That means you are just starting
B1 is pre intermediate. You have the basics of grammar and short vocabulary
B2 is upper intermediate. You can read novels or manga in English, watch movies and series with some problems.
C1 is profency. You don't need dictionaries and have a good grammar and vocabulary. You can speak the language very well and listen it too.
C2 is for academics. You know, tech or med vocabulary.
Works usually ask for B2 or C1. So, just focus on learning. If you insist in improve your level with tests, you'll only remember the answers. And that's not the objective.
